The holidays are filled with tasty treats and seasonal sweets, and you can still indulge and keep your smile healthy by keeping a few tips in mind this holiday season.

Eat candy in moderation
Avoid overeating sweets this holiday season. Parties are filled with popcorn balls, cookies and other great seasonal treats, and the nonstop sugar buffet can be terrible for your teeth.

Instead of constantly snacking, indulge in a single dessert and brush your teeth afterward.

Don’t use your teeth as tools
Your teeth are not a nutcracker, and trying to use it as such could lead to a lot of pain and damage. If you don’t have a nutcracker, then move onto another treat.

Keep your healthy routine
Keep a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste with you to help you freshen up after meals. If you can’t step away to brush your teeth, chewing sugarless gum can help boost saliva to flush out debris and more. Be sure to keep up with your dental appointments and regular checkups, even if they fall during the holidays.

The Schumacher & Bauer, DDS team hopes you all have a healthy and happy holiday season, and we look forward to seeing your smiles in the office soon.
