Why do I need to go to the dentist every six months?
Your mouth is the main entryway to the rest of your body and usually is a reflection of your overall general health. When you see us every six months we do many things for you.
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound in cure” – Benjamin Franklin
Gum disease is caused by the bacteria in our plaque. Having your teeth professionally cleaned frequently will help prevent gum disease and allow us to screen for it. If caught early, gum disease can typically be reversed with a few simple changes in your home care routine.
Screening for tooth decay
Tooth decay typically does not hurt until it is all the way to the nerve. Doing a clinical exam and looking at up-to-date X-rays allows us to detect tooth decay early. When caught early, the treatment can be a quick and easy filling rather than a more invasive, more time consuming, root canal.
Oral Cancer Screening
We do a full clinical evaluation for oral cancer at every visit. Just like gum disease, early detection is the key to having the greatest success at treating it.
