TEETH WHITENING AT SCHUMACHER & BAUER

Quick facts about teeth whitening:

  • Teeth whitening does not damage your teeth. The whitening process uses an active ingredient to temporarily open pores in your teeth and lift stains. After each whitening session, your teeth naturally remineralize and rehydrate.
  • Sensitivity after teeth whitening is common. The teeth become temporarily dehydrated, which reduces the capability of the nerve to compensate during temperature changes. If this happens to you, a fluoride treatment may help to reduce sensitivity.
  • Sometimes it takes many applications for deep stains to go away. But, once they are gone it is easy to maintain a beautiful whitened smile
  • Crowns and veneers cannot be whitened. When a porcelain restoration is made, it is designed to match the surrounding teeth and resists stains. If you change the color of the surrounding teeth, the porcelain will stay the same

We offer two types of teeth whitening at Schumacher & Bauer

In-office whitening

Zoom! whitening is when the whitening gel is applied to your teeth in the office and an LED light is used to accelerate the teeth whitening process. This is a great option if you know you are not going to be consistent with at-home trays, and you do not experience a high level of sensitivity.

Take home whitening

We make custom trays for you to place the whitening gel in to wear at home. You can wear the trays as long as you want, depending on you level of comfort. This is the best option if you experience teeth sensitivity because you have control over how long you are exposed to the whitening gel and can determine how often you want to do it.
